Thank You
Yale Divinity School
Donors

Dear Colleagues,

One of the great joys of being Dean of Yale Divinity School is witnessing the strong support of the School’s alums and friends, year after year, as you step up to support our students through your giving. You never cease to amaze and inspire. Thank you.

In 2022-23, YDS donors strongly supported our Annual Fund, 100 percent of which goes directly to student aid. Your gifts kept us top-two among Yale graduate and professional schools in Annual Fund alumni giving rates, a true testament to your commitment and generosity. Your gifts have made it possible for us to continue meeting 100 percent of students’ tuition need while doing more to help them cover the high cost of living in New Haven. In addition, donor support made it possible for us to create a new professorship in environmental ethics—an important piece of our work to train students to serve as “apostles of the environment”—and to give us the wherewithal to move ahead with construction of our landmark regenerative residence hall, the Living Village.

Thanks to our donors, YDS is able to fulfill our mission of service to church and world with greater strength, and with the flexibility needed to respond to new challenges and opportunities across the fast-changing landscape.

For your efforts to support our preparation of future leaders of churches and communities, I send my deepest appreciation.

Freedom from tuition payments has substantially improved students’ financial wellbeing. But rent, food, and other living expenses have increased 27 percent the past 10 years, costing students today roughly $22,000 a year.

Our next goal: Offer significantly more aid to assist with living costs in New Haven.
